How We Work
No project is like another – and we love it that way. We have made agreements with clients based on a handshake and have presented extensive proposals with detailed site analyses and multiple design solutions. Fulfilling your vision will likely fall somewhere in between.
Step 1:
Discovery
We get to know you, the site and your vision. Do you know what you want? What is the existing architecture on the site– is it a business, a residence? Are there other buildings, a swimming pool, a tennis court? What path or drive leads to the property from the street? Do you have other design professionals as part of the project team? How do neighborhood design covenants or municipal codes come into play?
Step 2:
Exploration
Here we assess information collected during discovery, merge them into a strategy, and create ideas. We present conceptual designs through sketches, plant photos and material samples. We find this is a good time to discuss budgets and schedules to help clarify a scope of work going forward.
Step 3:
Refinement
…Otherwise known as sharpening pencils… once a concept is approved, we go into details that will bring your vision to life. We create detailed designs to reveal patterns, textures, and combine them with more practical aspects, like utilities and security so the design aligns with your vision.
Step 4:
Technical Details
Detailed construction documents are produced to obtain required permits from governing agencies and refined construction estimates from contractors.
Step 5:
Bidding & Pricing
You may prefer that we manage the project or want to do so yourself. We often evaluate and recommend contractors and help you interpret their proposals to help you in selecting the best team members for your project.
Step 6:
Site Inspection
We can be on site as needed or at a regular interval during the construction process. We can personally select materials and specimen plantings, as well as stone, sculpture and other design elements. Our level of involvement in the construction of your project is up to you.
